TEAMS ANNOUNCED FOR TATTERSALLS IRELAND INTERNATIONAL POINT TO POINT RIDERS’ CHALLENGE
The UK Ladies’ team consists of; Gina Andrews, Claire Hart, Jane Williams and Jacqueline Coward. The UK Men’s team is made up of; William Biddick, Alex Edwards, Mark Wall and Joshua Guerriero.
Commenting on her selection for the UK team, Gina Andrews said; “I’m really pleased and looking forward to taking part in the rider’s challenge. I’ve never been to a Point to Point in Ireland before so it will be exciting to see what is done different there.”
Selected for the Irish Ladies’ team are; Liz Lalor, Maxine O’Sullivan, Evanna McCutcheon and Annie Bowles. Representing Ireland for the men are; Derek O’Connor, Jamie Codd, Mikey O’Connor and Colin Motherway.
Liz Lalor, a member of the Irish Ladies’ team commented; “It’s great to see this new initiative in Irish Point to Points and I look forward to welcoming the UK team to Ireland in May.”
There will be two challenge races between British and Irish riders. Teams comprising of four women and four men from each country will compete in a mares’ maiden and a geldings’ maiden for six-year-olds and upwards and will be based on a points system. A draw will be made to ensure the allocation of rides for each team will be entirely fair.
The challenge races will be claimers in which all horses entered will be liable to be claimed for €5,000 after the race.
