Tales of the Derby Sale: Ken Parkhill, Castletown Quarry Stud
"The Derby Sale has stood the test of time. It has grown from humble beginnings and to being the sale where everyone wants to be.” As we approach the 50th Derby Sale, it's fitting that we take the opportunity to sit down with Ken Parkhill, who provides Robert Hall with insight behind Castletown Quarry Stud’s success. The Parkhill Family are steeped in Derby Sale history and have consigned some of National Hunt racing’s favourite names. Their mare High Board produced Champion Hurdle winners Granville Again and Morley Street. The family has also produced 2016 Derby Sale graduate and Cheltenham Festival winner City Island, and dual Grade 1 winner Ferny Hollow. The popular grey Monet’s Garden is also a graduate from the Parkhill academy. The Parkhill’s have supplied the Derby Sale top lot on three occasions, and trading as Castletown Quarry Stud have topped the consignor table six times.
