The May Store
Sale provides buyers with the first opportunity of the year to purchase Store
horses. It’s a sale that’s eagerly anticipated by point-to-point handlers, and
many of Ireland’s leading handlers begin restocking at the May Store Sale. Among the top
lots to sell in 2023 was a half-sister to Arkle Chase winner Simonsig, and a
half-sister to Grade 1 winning novice chaser Sporting John.

The 2024 catalogue featured siblings to dual Grade 3 winner Robin De Carlow, a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Killala Quay, a half-sister to eight-time winner Court Maid, and a half-brother to five-time winner Different Gravey.

The 2023 edition
of the sale saw a big increase in UK buyer participation, with three of the top
five lots going for export. Graduates from the May Store Sale to have made their mark at Grade 1 level include Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Slade Steel, Tolworth Hurdle winner Jango Baie and Cheltenham Festival winner Telmesomethinggirl.
