TATTERSALLS IRELAND GRADUATE BELLSHILL EXCELS TO LAND CHAMPION BUMPER
Tattersalls Ireland graduates have a brilliant record in the Champion Bumper at Punchestown, previously won by Champagne Fever, Lovethehigherlaw and Cousin Vinny, all ridden and trained by the winning partnership of Willie and Patrick Mullins.
BELLSHILL was sold at the 2010 November National Hunt Sale by breeder Frank Motherway’s Yellowford Farm for €21,000 to Ian Ferguson.
Earlier in the day, Derby Sale graduate WALK TO FREEDOM galloped to the line to win the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel Hurdle by an impressive margin of six and a half lengths.
WALK TO FREEDOM was sold on two occasions at Tattersalls Ireland. Firstly as a foal at the 2010 November National Hunt Sale when being sold by Orwell for €3,200 to Ballybrennan Stud. Ballybrennan Stud returned the son of Arcadio to the 2013 Derby Sale and sold his to his trainer Jessica Harrington for €34,000.
The Derby Sale enjoyed further success on day two of the Festival when BALLYADAM APPROACH took the ultra competitive Guinness Handicap Chase by yet another wide distance of seven and a half lengths.
Owner William Horgan bought the son of Bob Back at the 2008 Derby Sale from Ballincurrig House Stud for €52,000.
