Successful conclusion to the Tattersalls Ireland Store Sale season

The
last day of the Tattersalls Ireland August NH Sale produced a top price of
€28,000 given by agent Gerry Griffin for a Rule Of Law gelding consigned by
Knockamullen Farm on behalf of Joseph Lalor (Lot 737). “He
is going to Nicky Richards,” confirmed Griffin of his sixth purchase this
week. “He is a nice horse, I am pleased with the price.  Let’s hope
he can run – faster than I can at least!”

 The
second-best price of the session went to a well-related Arcadio filly (Lot 760) bought by
Highflyer Bloodstock in absentia, with Harry Fowler carrying out the bidding
with agent David Minton on the phone. Sold by Rita McLoughney, the filly
is the first foal out of Lough Roe Lady (Stowaway). The
sale, with an extra third day compared with the two-day sale of 2017, produced
an aggregate of €3,964,600 from 422 horses who sold at an average price of
€9,395 and a median of €5,500.

 At
the conclusion of the August NH Sale, Tattersalls Ireland CEO Matt Mitchell
commented:

 “Today’s
sale, was the conclusion of the Tattersalls Ireland Store Sales season,
including the May Sale, Derby Sale and the August Sale.  The three sales
had a turnover of €24,101,700, with 1,479 catalogued and 917 sold.  The
statistics reflect a strong market, but also a selective market as today’s sale
demonstrates.

The
August sale despite the increase in numbers, has returned a clearance rate of
68% with an average of €9,395. We wish are to thank our loyal vendors and in particular, wish our purchasers
success on the track. We now turn our attention to the November National Hunt
Sale where entries are already at an advanced stage and close on Tuesday 18
September.”
