Sox is Super in Listed Platinum Stakes
There was listed success for September Yearling Sale graduate Super Sox in the Platinum Stakes at Cork last Friday.
The daughter of Showcasing was tackling listed company for the first time, and impressed in the manner in which she decisively beat a field of eight rivals. It was a second win this season for the filly, who was adding to a maiden victory at the Tattersalls Guineas Festival in May.
Super Sox is owned by Dowager Countess of Harrington, and trained by Paddy Twomey and holds Group 3 entries in the Ballyogan Stakes and Fairy Bridge Stakes.
She was purchased by Paddy Twomey at the 2022 September Yearling Sale from Adrian Costello’s Clenagh Castle Stud for €50,000. Her dam Minoria is a half-sister to Minalisa who was a smart stakes filly trained by Rae Guest, and was a listed winner at Naas in 2014. The third dam in the pedigree is Miss Anabaa, who won the Ballyogan Stakes for which Super Sox is entered back in 2003.
The victory of Super Sox adds to the impressive list of stakes winners from the 2022 September Yearling Sale, where other horses consigned included the Group 3 Jannah Rose Stakes winner Sea The Boss, Italian 2,000 Guineas winner Melfi and Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas runner-up A Lilac Rolla.
The September Yearling Sale will take place on the 24th and 25th of September, with Part II scheduled to take place on the 26th September.
