Son of the late Fame And Glory tops day one of the November NH Sale
A yearling gelding by the late Fame And Glory (Lot 152) topped day one of the November NH Sale when selling to Johnny Collins of Brown Island Stables for €42,000.
"He is good sort and will be for resale as a three-year-old, hopefully at the Derby Sale," said Collins of the Peter Nolan Bloodstock-consigned gelding. "His sire has done well and I think his sire Montjeu is becoming a significant sire of sires, while I like Oscar as a broodmare sire."
At this year's Derby Sale, Fame And Glory led the sires' table by aggregate, while his progeny sold at an average price of €82,909 with a top price of €185,000.
First-time Tattersalls Ireland consignors William Tilley and daughter Tuffy Tilley were more than satisfied with the sale of their Bluegate Stud-consigned Kayf Tara gelding for €37,000 to regular Tattersalls Ireland buyer Richard Frisby (Lot 123).
The Cheshire-based Tuffy Tilley, a former event rider, said: "Dad bought the mare Captivating Tyna to do a little bit of breeding. We put the Nomadic Way older brother Monthyne into training with Warren Greatrex and he won in the spring. We have others we want to train so needed to raise some funds so we decided to sell this horse,he has been brought up in Wales, 1,000ft up and not far from Snowdonia!
"I train eventer Louise Lyons, and she is partner to Nicky Teehan of Bluegate Stud so we sent him to Bluegate to prep and then bring him here - it has really worked out well, we are delighted."
The turnover for the session was €798,200 for 78 lots sold at an average price of €10,104 and a median of €5,000.
The National Hunt Yearling Section concluded on an aggregate of €772,300, an average of €12,259 and a median of €8,000 for the 63 lots sold.
Day two of the November NH Sale begins tomorrow at 10am with the first session of national hunt foals on offer.
