Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale graduate Onesmoothoperator is now set to contest the Melbourne Cup on November 5th.

Breeze Up Sale graduate Onesmoothoperator heightened his Melbourne Cup credentials with an impressive win in the Group 3 Geelong Cup.

The Brian Ellison-trained six-year-old was ridden patiently through the first half of the mile-and-a-half contest, but made smooth headway through the third quarter and displayed a sharp turn of foot in the straight to run out a two-and-a-quarter length winner.

It was fifth career success and a first win on turf for Onesmoothoperator, who earlier this year landed the prestigious Northumberland Plate at Newcastle.

Successful rider Craig Williams was winning the Geelong Cup for a sixth time, and Onesmoothoperator will bid to become the fourth horse to complete the Geelong Cup – Melbourne Cup double on November 5th at Flemington.

He is a graduate of the 2020 Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale where he was consigned by Sherbourne Lodge and purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for £140,000.

The Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale has a burgeoning profile with the sale enjoying unprecedented demand from vendors in recent years, and proving itself as the best performing European Breeze Up Sale in 2024.

Nominations are currently being taken for the 2025 edition of the sale which is scheduled to take place on the 22nd and 23rd May next year.

Another Tattersalls Ireland graduate aiming to land one of Australian racing’s biggest prizes is September Yearling Sale graduate Docklands who is set to contest the $5 million Group 1 Cox Plate this weekend.

The Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes runner-up will be ridden by Blake Shinn for the first time, and trainer Harry Eustace this week confirmed that the Champion Stakes at Flemington on November 9th, and the Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin on December 8th are all end of year targets.
