RECORDS AGAIN AT DERBY SALE
At the conclusion of the Derby Sale on Friday evening Tattersalls Ireland’s Managing Director, George Mernagh commented: “This has been an outstanding sale. The competition for horses has been electrifying not just at the top end where there were over 13 horses making in excess of €100,000 but there was tremendous depth at the middle end of the market also. For two consecutive years we have experienced a massive surge in average, median and turnover and as we saw last year it inspired great confidence for pinhookers at our August and November National Hunt Sales and we hope this will again transpire this year. What we have witnessed over the past two days has been truly amazing. It sounds like a cliché however prior to this sale there was a certain degree of confidence we probably had the strongest catalogue ever assembled and the success of Derby Sale graduates on the racetrack this year had given the sale a massive boost however the level of trade has surpassed our most optimistic expectations. The €100,000 Tattersalls Ireland Sales Bumper continues to be act as an added incentive for purchasers at the Derby and August Sale. We would also like to give a special thanks to Irish Thoroughbred Marketing for their efforts”
