Top lot on day one of foal trade came from Ballincurrig House Stud, a Robin des Champs colt out of Zita Hall, a winner over hurdles herself (Lot 430). Purchaser was Aiden Murphy who secured the colt for €62,000.
“He’s a lovely foal by a great sire. He will head to England where he will be kept to race,” said Mr. Murphy.
John O’Byrne was active on day one, purchasing 7 lots for a total of €226,000. Lot 452, a Robin des Champs colt from an attractive family including Champion Hurdle winner ROCK ON RUBY along with being a full brother to the promising Simon Squirrel was knocked down to O’Byrne for €55,000. Ballyclerihan House Stud were the consignors.
A colt by first season sire Fame And Glory was also bought by O’Byrne on day one of the foal sales. From the family of FULL OF AMBITION selling as Lot 410, the Ballincurrig House Stud consigned colt was bought for €52,000.
Commenting on his purchases, Mr. O’Byrne said;
“The Robin des Champs is a beautiful horse from a black type family with Rock On Ruby and Alpine Glade well up the page. The foals by Fame And Glory are lovely horses and they are all worth looking at. This lad is a very appealing foal and his dam is by Champion National Hunt sire Old Vic. Both have been bought to race.”
