OUTSTANDING CATALOGUE FOR NOVEMBER NATIONAL HUNT SALE 2015
The 2015 catalogue consists of 1,530 lots featuring 240 yearlings, all of which are eligible for the €12,000 National Hunt Yearling Show, held in association with the ITBA. The show will take place ahead of the sale, on Sunday, November 8. Those vendors of yearlings wishing to take part in the show must nominate their horse by 12 noon on Friday November 6 by contacting the Tattersalls Ireland office on +353 1 8864 300 or info@tattersalls.ie.
Yearlings
The one-day yearling session starts the sale on Monday at 10am and immediately sets the tone on quality – Lot 56 being a Yeats filly out of the Grade 3-placed mare Dancera, while Lot 63 is a half-sister to the Irish Champion Hurdle third River Liane and is by Fame And Glory. The same sire is also represented by Lot 147 , a gelding out of the Listed hurdle winner Inch Pride, sold by 2014’s leading November Sale consignors Ballincurrig House Stud. Ballincurrig House Stud are also selling Lot 168 , a Fame And Glory gelding out of Last Of Many, Last of Many being a half-sister to Shotgun Willy, Major Sensation and Mini Sensation and from the deep black-type family of Observe, Espy and St Pirran.
By Doyen, Lot 68 is a half-sister to the Grade 1 handicap chaser Anothercoppercoast from Fairtown Stud and Lot 71 is an Arcadio gelding out of a half-sister to Royal & SunAlliance Chase winner One Knight and from the family of Shannon Spray, Eirespray and Direct Access.
Yeats is represented by the multiple black-type winner Stashedaway (Lot 75) ; Stowaway by a gelding out of Aine Dubh (Lot 85) , a dual Grade 2 hurdles winner, as well as a February-born gelding out of an own-sister to Accordion Etoile and French Accordion (Lot 111) offered by Coolamurry Stud. Milan has a full-brother to Martello Tower (Lot 87) , winner of the Albert Bartlett Spa Novices Hurdle (G1), and Lot 191 , a half-brother to ten-time and Galway Plate winner Finger Onthe Pulse.
Top-class Gold Cup form is represented by the Baroda and Colbinstown Studs-consigned Beat Hollow filly out of China Sky, a half-sister to Best Mate (Lot 208).
Foals
The strong links to the Cheltenham Festival and the Gold Cup continues into the foal section of the sale. A Getaway colt is offered as Lot 285 – he is out of a Sadler’s Wells sister to 2012 Gold Cup winner Synchronised; Lot 469, from Peter Nolan Bloodstock, is a Stowaway colt out of a half-sister to Imperial Commander, while the pedigree of RSA Chase and 2014 Gold Cup winner Lord Windermere features in Lot 603, 604 and 685. Kicking King, the Gold Cup winner in 2005, is a half-brother to the dam of the Jeremy colt sold as Lot 714, and to Lot 715, a colt by Doyen. Sunnyhill Stud offers both.
Champion Hurdle form is also strongly featured – Lot 313, a colt by Oscar, is closely related to Rock On Ruby and Lot 544, also by Oscar, is a half-brother to The New One. Lot 503, from Simmonstown Stud, is a Flemensfirth half-brother to the dual Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival winner, Simonsig.
Lough Na Sollis Stud, consignor of 2014’s top-priced foal, sells a colt by the popular Shirocco (Lot 400). He is out of a Presenting sister to First Lieutenant, a three-time Grade 1 winner.
Shirocco is also represented by Lot 935, a Yellowford Farm-offered son of a half-sister to the Supreme Novices Hurdle (G1) star Back In Front, Lot 940, a colt out of Clever Mode, a half-sister to the eight-time Grade 1-winning 2m chaser Master Minded, and Lot 944, a grand-son of the Grade 1 bumper winner Spirit Leader.
Also by Shirocco is Mill House Stud’s colt out of Oligarch Society (Lot 942), is a half-sister to the Irish Grand National winner Thunder And Roses (the same pedigree also featuring in (Lot 911). Lot 907, a son of the Grade 1-placed mare Gaspara, is offered by Ballincurrig House Stud.
Bishopstown Stud sells a Jeremy colt, closely-related to the ill-fated Triumph Hurdle (G1) and Spring Juvenile Hurdle (G1) winner Our Conor (Lot 757), while colt foals by Getaway and Imperial Monarch are being offered out of half-sisters to last season’s Hennessy Gold Cup (G1) and Grand National hero Many Clouds (Lot 718 and Lot 830)
The first foal out of the 13-time winner Quevega, headlines a clutch of well-related fillies. She is to be offered by the Irish National Stud and is by Beat Hollow (Lot 974). Middleton Park Stud consigns a Shirocco filly out a half-sister to the talented Harchibald (Lot 916), and Rathbarry Stud send a January-born grand-daughter, also by Shirocco, of the good race mare Lady Cricket (Lot 950).
Lot 972, to be sold by Mill House Stud, is a Yeats filly out of a half-sister to the Gold Cup winner Long Run, while Lot 618, from Ennel Bloodstock, is a Westerner sister to Grade 1 winner Captain Cutter from the family of Mister Morose and Albertas Run. The same farm also sells a Yeats colt, a half-brother to the talented race mare Mariah Rollins (Lot 616).
Older Horses & Broodmares
The older horses head selling on the last day of the sale before a broodmare session featuring some royally-bred National Hunt matriarchs, including the Burling dispersal sale, featuring six top-class broodmares.Burling’s mares include the dual Listed winner Karello Bay (Lot 1432), an own-sister to Long Distance Hurdle (G2) winner Marello sold in-foal to Gentlewave; Temptation, who is in-foal to Milan and the dam of the Listed-placed Princely Player (Lot 1433); the French Grade 3 winner Knock Down(Lot 1434), also in-foal to Gentlewave; the three-time Grade 2-placed Kentford Grey Lady in-foal to Kayf Tara Lot (1436), and Dare To Doubt, a Grade 2-winning daughter of King’s Theatre (Lot 1437).A pedigree boasting the best of updates in 2015 is Lot 1435 – Histoire de Moeurs (in-foal to Califet) became a sister to the dam of Physiocrate, runner-up in this year’s Prix de Diane (G1). Her filly foal by Oscar is Lot 228.Aside from the dispersal, early into the ring on Saturday from Grange Hill Stud is Annabaloo (Lot 1389) . She is an own-sister to the three-time Grade 1 winner Oscar Whisky and is carrying to Presenting. Following her into the ring will be Wild Spell, dam of a winner, from the same family and in-foal to Getaway (Lot 1390) . Lot 1461 , offered by M Brophy, is the Grade 3-placed Taraval (Phardante), in-foal to Shirocco, another half-sister to Oscar Whisky.Offered by Sheridan House Stables and in-foal to Libertarian is Native Girl(Lot 1402) , a half-sister to the three-time Grade 1 winner Go Native, while Mill House Stud sells Parlez Vous in-foal to Shirocco (Lot 1415) . She is a daughter of Liberthine, the half-sister to Long Run. Lot 1423 is Through The Lens, a half-sister to the 13-time winner and Champion Hurdler Binocular and in-foal on a February cover to Robin Des Champs.Proven black-type-producing mares include Church View Stables’s Star Face, the dam of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle (G1) and Punchestown Champion Novice Hurdle (G1) winner Douvan (Lot 1412) , and Hasainm, dam of the Grade 2 winner Burrenbridge Lodge (Lot 1420) .The Grade 1 winner Adriana Des Mottes, carrying her maiden pregnancy to Shantou, heads the list of young and maiden mares and fillies (Lot 1428) .
