NEW FORMAT FOR THE TATTERSALLS IRELAND SEPTEMBER YEARLING SALE IN 2014
Tattersalls Ireland Managing Director, Roger Casey commented:
“These changes were necessary to accommodate the fierce and continued demand from vendors to be part of this increasingly successful sale. The September Sale has grown significantly for five consecutive years and last year was no exception when we again had an outstanding set of returns, with a record number of UK buyers, a huge influx of overseas purchasers in attendance and a highest price of €180,000 achieved. Due to the enormous number of applications already received this year and further to consultation with vendors and purchasers, in an effort to further enhance the sale we have decided to amend the number of horses catalogued on the first two days of this year’s September Yearling Sale and to reintroduce the Part 2 format. Our aim is to catalogue approximately 425 yearlings on the Tuesday and Wednesday and to accommodate a further 225 yearlings in Part 2 on Thursday September 25th. All yearlings catalogued will be eligible to run in the following year’s €200,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes run on Champions weekend at the Curragh racecourse.
Inspections of yearlings are currently well underway and we are greatly encouraged with the standard of yearlings that have applied for inspection for this year’s sale. We are certain that a condensed number of yearlings catalogued on the first two days will increase both the quality and demand for stock in the traditional September Sale format and the Part 2 offering will enable us to accommodate the significant demand from vendors to be part of an increasingly successful and well attended sale.”
