Tattersalls Ireland graduate Sizing John capped off a remarkable weekend for Tattersalls Ireland graduates when winning the Grade 1 John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown yesterday. The three-time Gold Cup winner made a perfect start to his new season campaign, producing virtually a flawless round of jumping and beating some well-regarded opposition. The 2017 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner went through the ring at Tattersalls Ireland November NH Sale as a foal, selling to John Bleahen for €16,000 from Ballincurrig House Stud on behalf of his breeders, Bryan and Sandra Mayoh's, Eskdale Stud. A total of 26 Tattersalls Ireland graduates entered the winners enclosure in Ireland and Great Britain this weekend. Notable victories came from Famous Milly in the Listed Fillies' Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree and Shattered Love in the Grade 3 Mares Novice Chase at Cork. Other impressive performances were provided by Invitation Only in the Beginners Chase at Navan, Defi Bleu debut racetrack win in the Bumper at Navan and Athenean winning the Maiden Hurdle at Cork. |
