May Point-to-Point & Horses-in-Training Sale Catalogue Now Online

The Tattersalls Ireland May Point-to-Point & Horses-in-Training Sale has attracted a total of 25 lots, among them 15 recent point-to-point winners, and two horses with recent placed form in bumpers.

The catalogue comprises of six four-year-old maiden winners, among them the Colin Bowe-trained THE GREAT NUDIE (Lot 2). The daughter of Wings Of Eagles made an impressive winning debut last weekend, coming home with 18 lengths to spare over her closest rival in the four-year-old Mares Maiden at Ballingarry. The performance marked her down as a mare of huge potential, and she is one of two horses catalogued for the champion point-to-point handler.

Among the other four-year-olds catalogued are the Denis Murphy-trained BERKENSHTAAAP (Lot 25), a son of Berkshire, who scored by five lengths on his debut in a four-year-old Geldings Maiden at Inchydoney. LONG BRANCH (Lot 6), ARSLAN (Lot 10) and DRIVEONWILL (Lot 24) filled the first three placings in the four-year-old maiden at Tralee last Saturday, and all three horses have been catalogued for Wednesday’s sale. LONG BRANCH, a son of Idaho, improved markedly from his initial experience and some slick jumping late on saw him come home with a length to spare over ARSLAN. The runner-up is a son of Wootton Bassett, with a top-class flat pedigree being the son of dual Grade 1 winner Harmonious. DRIVEONWILL, the four-year-old son of Affinisea, should be making his presence felt in the future based on this solid debut performance.

The Paul Power-trained COCOVIC (Lot 1) will be the first lot under the hammer on Wednesday. The son of Ocovango travelled strongly throughout his maiden last weekend at Ballingarry, and quickened well to win by five lengths. ULTIMATE SURVIVOR (Lot 3) is set to be consigned by Sean Doyle’s Monbeg Stables, and the four-year-old son of Court Cave battled well to win at Stradbally. ROUBAN (Lot 16) is a four-year-old son of Laverock who showed good progression from first to second start, and rates as a horse with real potential judged on his second at Ballingarry.

DIPPEDINMOONLIGHT (Lot 5) is a significant entry as she annihilated her opposition on debut, passing the line with 40 lengths to spare. Darragh Berry will consign DIPPEDINMOONLIGHT, and her presence is intriguing, given the fact her dam is a half-sister to 14-time Group 1 winner GOLDIKOVA.

The catalogue consists of 13 five-year-olds, including MR GOWER (Lot 12), a son of Imperial Monarch who landed his maiden by ten-lengths. The Stradbally maiden winner will be consigned by Denis Moore, who is best known for consigning subsequent Scottish National winner Win My Wings. Mr Gower’s dam is a half-sister to Grade 2 placed novice chaser SHINING GALE. The John Walsh-trained FREDDIES BACK (Lot 18) is another catalogued to have made a winning debut between the flags recently. The son of Malinas showed good battling qualities to overcome inexperience, and his dam is a half-sister to Grade 1 placed FRANCISCAN ROCK. ONLYMAMMYCANLOVEME (Lot 19) is another catalogued who defied the benefit of experience and Vinny Devereaux’s charge is a half-brother to five-time winner AMBER BROOK.

NELSON MUNTZ (Lot 4) and TILLAWAY (Lot 21) are two catalogued horses with placed form in bumpers. NELSON MUNTZ, a five-year-old son of Mount Nelson, finished just over three-lengths behind the winner in third on his latest start is set to be consigned by Harry Kelly. TILLAWAY, a five-year-old daughter of JET AWAY, finished third in a Wexford bumper and appears to be a mare progressing in the right direction.

The May Point-to-Point & Horses-in-Training Sale will take place on Wednesday 29th May, with the first lot due into the Tattersalls Ireland sales ring at 5pm. Viewing of lots will take place from 12pm on Wednesday, and the sale will be streamed live on the Tattersalls Ireland website.

Commenting on the catalogue, Tattersalls Ireland CEO Simon Kerins said:

“It’s always exciting to host a sale of this type. Our clients expressed a need for another sale, and they have supported the concept with a catalogue comprising of some very promising sorts, including 15 recent point-to-point winners. The Tattersalls NH May Sale in the past has produced Grade 1 horses including Monkfish and Tahmuras, and this demonstrates that Grade 1 performers can be sourced deeper into the season. In the past we have staged a sale of this type, which produced graduates such as Flemenstar, Benefficient and Ballycasey. We look forward to following the career paths of these catalogued horses.”
