INCREASES IN FIGURES AS 2015 COMES TO A CLOSE FOR TATTERSALLS IRELAND

 FOURTH HIGHEST ANNUAL TURNOVER RECORDED

Roger Casey, Managing Director of Tattersalls Ireland commented on the year which also witnessed many exciting changes at the company;

“For the fourth consecutive year, Tattersalls Ireland has produced an increased set of returns, with turnover increasing by 2% in overall terms to €43,893,850, the fourth highest annual turnover on record for Tattersalls Ireland. Indeed the turnover has increased by 71% over the last five years and the 2% increase in turnover this year certainly reflects the general consolidation being witnessed right across the bloodstock industry in 2015 as the demand and supply dynamic continues to evolve and a more selective marketplace develops. Leading the charge for our National Hunt Sales portfolio was the flagship Derby Sale, which was celebrating its 40th year, and marked the occasion by achieving a European record for a National Hunt three-year-old and the highest price anywhere for the last four years of €320,000, a record median for the sale of €36,000 and an incomparable 80 lots recording a price of €50,000 or more. With regard to our flat sales offering, the September Yearling Sale, arguably the best performing Yearling Sale in Europe in 2015, further confirmed itself as one of the leading Yearling Sales in Ireland and Great Britain when recording a clearance rate of 93%, a rise in the aggregate of 33% to €9.9million, in median by 20% to €18,000 and in average by 29% to €24,093. The sale has gone from strength to strength in recent years and its burgeoning international reputation translated into fourteen countries represented and the largest number of individual UK buyers on record present at the sale. Unquestionably our graduates continue to be the best form of promotion for our sales. Festival success was celebrated as our National Hunt horses outperformed others on racing’s biggest stages; FAUGHEEN, COLE HARDEN, MOON RACER, THUNDER AND ROSES, SIZING GRANITE and BELLSHILL all delivered at the major festivals, while on the flat, Group 1 and premier meeting wins were recorded with highlights coming from PETHER’S MOON, GALILEO GOLD and HAWKSMOOR."

ASCOT AND CHELTENHAM

“2015 also witnessed some major changes for Tattersalls Ireland. In October, Tattersalls Limited acquired Brightwells Limited portfolio of Bloodstock Sales which are now being operated by Tattersalls Ireland and subsequently in November 2015, the first ever Tattersalls Ireland Ascot and Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham Sales were held. Since acquiring the business, Tattersalls Ireland Sales at Ascot and Cheltenham have boasted an increase in combined turnover for the November and December Sales increasing by 8% to just under £4million. Indeed in overall terms the combined annual turnover at the Ascot and Cheltenham venues of £15.4m for 2015 reflects an 8% annual increase with the Ascot Sales producing its highest annual turnover since 1990 spearheaded by the ever improving Ascot Breeze Up Sale”.
