Group 2 Glory for September Yearling Sale
There was Group 2 glory in the Gimcrack Stakes for September Yearling Sale graduate Cool Hoof Luke at York, adding to the sale's impressive record of producing two-year-old winners.
The son of Advertise was dropping back to six furlongs from seven furlongs, and was ridden with real patience by Oisin Murphy, travelling into the race strongly and asserting for a three-quarters-of-a-length victory.
It was a second win for the Andrew Balding trained two-year-old, who won on his debut at Chelmsford in June. He had shown a high level of form in his next two starts, finishing fourth in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, and followed that effort with third in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood.
He was purchased for €20,000 at the 2023 September Yearling Sale from Vinesgrove Stud by Andrew Balding, and holds an entry in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket next month.
The 2024 September Yearling Sale will take place on the 24th and 25th of September, with Part II taking place on 26th September.
