Fourteen Punchestown Festival Winners for Tattersalls Ireland
DEFINITE RUBY wins for Elliott
Friday’s card provided two winners for Tattersalls Ireland. DEFINITE RUBY won the EBF Glencarraig Lady Mares Handicap Chase for trainer Gordon Elliott, owner James W Power and jockey Jack Kennedy. The Definite Article filly jumped consistently throughout the race and appeared to relish the conditions underfoot.
DEFINITE RUBY was sold by Mount Eaton Stud at the 2011 Derby Sale to Highflyer Stud for €11,000.
Cheltenham – Aintree – Punchestown hat trick for the second year in a row for ON THE FRINGE
The second winner for Tattersalls Ireland on Friday was supplied by ON THE FRINGE who, for the second year in a row completed the Cheltenham – Aintree – Punchestown hat trick. Having won this race for the fifth time, ON THE FRINGE tackled the obstacles whole-heartedly and won the race two lengths in front.
ON THE FRINGE was sold by Yellowford Farm as a foal to John O’Byrne for €47,000.
FLETCHER flies home in the Handicap Chase
Previously a winner of a bumper at the same track, FLETCHERS FLYER returned to Punchestown on Saturday to add the Madra Dog Foods Handicap Chase to his form for trainer Harry Fry, Masterson Holdings and jockey Noel Fehily. The Winged Love gelding travelled well throughout the race and came out on top, two and a half lengths of his rivals.
FLETCHERS FLYER was sold in 2011 at the Derby Sale as a three-year-old by The Glebe House Stud for 40,000 to F O’Brien.
Another Derby Sale winner for Mullins at Punchestown
PLEASANT COMPANY proved the worthy winner of the Palmerstown House Pat Taaffe Handicap Chase when Paul Townend steered the son of Presenting brilliantly to win for Malcolm C Denmark and Willie Mullins.
A graduate of the 2011 Derby Sale, PLEASANT COMPANY was sold by Ennel Bloodstock for €35,000 to Little Hills Farm.
