Fantastic Friday for Derby Sale Graduates at the Punchestown Festival

There was more Grade One success for Derby Sale graduates at the Punchestown Festival today, with Honeysuckle topping off an impeccable season notching her eighth Grade One victory and her third Champion Hurdle in 2021.

The special mare, owned by Kenneth Alexander, extended her flawless record to a perfect twelve in a row under Rachael Blackmore for Henry De Bromhead.

She was sold for just €9,500 at the Derby Sale by The Glanvilles Stud to Mark O'Hare.


It all came together for Asterion Forlonge today when winning the Grade A Novice Handicap Chase under Bryan Cooper for Willie Mullins and The Donnelly's.

He was sold for €60,000 at the Derby Sale by Rahinston Farm & Stud to Suirview Stables. Also sold at the Tattersalls Cheltenham February Sale for £290,000 to Harold Kirk / WP Mullins.


Rewritetherules justified favouritism winning the opener comfortably under Tom Hamilton for Shark Hanlon.

He was sold for €48,000 at the Derby Sale by Brandon View Stud to Barry O'Neill. Also sold as a foal at the November NH Sale for €11,500 by Hayestown Stud.


El Barra is the fourth winning Derby Sale graduate today at Punchestown claiming victory in the Novice Hurdle under Sean O'Keeffe for Willie Mullins and Rich Ricci.

He was sold for €52,000 at the Derby Sale by Sluggara Farm to P O'Connor. Also sold at the Tattersalls Cheltenham May Sale for £280,000 by Leighmoney Stables to Harold Kirk / WP Mullins.


My Mate Mozzie made an impressive racecourse debut when winning the finale for Gavin Cromwell and Patrick Mullins.

He was sold for €7,500 at the August NH Sale by Ennel Bloodstock to Mags Mullins.

Vendors continue to send their best stock to the Derby Sale and this year’s catalogue features exceptional pedigrees from the best National Hunt families, headlined by 14 siblings to Grade One winners. The Derby Sale will take place on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 June at Fairyhouse.
